Selena Gomez recently shared a personal revelation about her health, stating that she cannot carry her own children. The ‘Only Murders in the Building’ actress was diagnosed with lupus in 2013 and underwent chemotherapy and a kidney transplant. In 2022, she documented her journey with bipolar disorder and depression in the documentary ‘My Mind and Me’.
Gomez explained that due to her condition, she faces challenges that make pregnancy difficult.
“I haven’t ever said this … but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” Gomez told Vanity Fair.
“I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy,” said the star.
Selena admitted she struggled after learning she wouldn’t be able to carry a pregnancy, but revealed she’s now “in a much better place.”
“That was something I had to grieve for a while … It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it,” she said of parenthood. “I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.”
The star also mentioned her desire to become a mother one day, telling Vanity Fair she is grateful to know paths like surrogacy or adoption could help her start a family one day.
